HTC News – Windows Phone 7 App: HTC Compass Magnetizes Directions

30 Mar

If you have a Windows 7 Phone and get lost, here’s a compass app for you.  HTC created the HTC Compass for the HTC Arrive that arrived earlier list month.  HTC Compass is in the Windows Marketplace and uses Bing maps to generate walking directions.

It acts like a magnetic compass.  You have to wave your phone in an “eight” to calibrate the sensors, then the compass shows where you are.  The compass automatically rotates according to your direction.  Direction options include photo or map views.
Currently, users report that HTC Compass only runs on HTC Windows Phones, such as the HTC Arrive, HTC HD7 and HTC Surround.

HTC is releasing many smartphones that have been in the news lately.  The HTC ThunderBolt and HTC Inspire have been released and reviewed.  Coming in the future are the Android HTC EVO 3D, HTC Pyramid and HTC Shooter.  The HTC HD7S Windows Phone was announced at CTIA.
