Orange Cuts Price Of Windows Phone 7 Handset To £340

20 Apr

Although they’re still quite scarce on the market, the price of a Windows Phone 7 smartphone is slowly coming down, with the LG Optimus 7 being the cheapest of the bunch at the moment.
Orange is selling the handset on Dolphin 10 for £10 per month on a two year contract with an initial outlay of £99.99. You get only 30 minutes and unlimited texts each month but no internet access, though it is the cheapest and easiest way to get a new Windows Phone 7 handset assuming you want to stick with Orange.

A number of websites offer to unlock the phone for as little as nine euros, with the waiting time for the code to be sent around 12 hours.

The phone itself is a fairly decent one that comes with a 1GHz Qualcomm QSD 8650 Snapdragon system on chip, a 3.8-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen (with Gorilla glass), a 1500mAh battery, 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM, 16GB internal memory, a 5-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi and a few other features.

As expected, there’s no user accessible microSD card slot or secondary camera but you will have Bluetooth and an FM Radio. The specs of the phone look a lot like the HTC Desire with a 16GB microSD card, which can be purchased for much less than that on PAYG.

Those looking to buy the SIM-free version of the LG Optimus 7 outright can do so for £318.37 from Amazon including free shipping.
